Hello! My name is Kylin Larsson, and you can reach me at kylin@ bookeditingmaven. com
Bachelor’s from Evergreen with a focus on creative writing and tutoring writing.
Master’s from Portland State University with a focus on publishing, editing, and creative writing. Independent author of romance, urban fiction, and creative nonfiction.
Hi! My name is Kylin Larsson. I’m an editor, author, and tutor, and I’m accepting clients looking for support in the narrative arts. I specialize in developmental work and novels. My approach to copy editing is analytical, patient, and always in line with the Chicago Manual of Style and the Merriam-Webster dictionary. I’m always looking for the next interesting manuscript to improve for the writer’s destination market, whether the genre is academic or creative, nonfiction or fiction, short or long.
My degrees reflect my lifelong love of books. I went to the Evergreen State College and studied writing as I worked as a writing tutor. Next, with my trusty bachelor’s in hand, I ran the acquisitions department and edited books in a master’s program containing a student-run publishing house.
I graduated with honors, holding a master’s degree in writing and publishing from Portland State University. Afterward, I settled down to write novels and raise my family. My romance trilogy is nearly done and can be found here. My urban fantasy novels are works-in-progress. My two creative nonfiction books are under revision.
I always have a work-in-progress. I’ve written five novels, two creative nonfiction memoirs, short stories, and more. For a quick taste of my writing, enjoy this free short story. My colleagues at the Writing Center described me as a writer’s writer and an editor’s editor, a compliment that I try to live up to.
I blend my tutoring talents and editing expertise to serve writers seeking editing services. At Evergreen, I worked with individuals on essays, articles, novels, book-length theses, grants, and proposals. At Portland State University, I was the Acquisitions Editor for Ooligan Press as I studied the art of editing and running a publishing company.
My editing philosophy is encouraging and practical. I enjoy helping writers achieve their craft goals and love watching authors succeed at bringing their stories to readers.
